On April 25, a devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake rocked Nepal. Aftershocks continued to rumble the country, with a powerful 7.3 hitting on May 12th. The natural disaster has left:
  • Almost 10,000 dead
  • Almost 200,000 homes destroyed or damage
  • Over 1 million people displaced
  • Billions of dollars worth damage
  • Many temples and historic sites damaged
In response, Jay Malla and the Rotary Club of San Francisco Evening have been working tirelessly to support the relief efforts.

On August 28th, please join us at the Build Back Better Nepal Earthquake Relief Concert. Tickets are available for purchase here: http://earthquakereliefconcert.eventbrite.com

Enjoy live music, dancing and delicious Nepali food with a goal of raising funds to provide shelter and aid to families left homeless.

Additionally, the Bay-area Nepalese Alliance, Sahayeta, an all-volunteer non-profit organization dedicated serving people of the Himalayan region will talk briefly about their amazing work providing earthquake relief to Nepal especially those communities in the remotest areas, providing food, shelter and healthcare.

Funds raised by SF Evening from ticket sales and donations will be donated to Rotary Club of Katmandu Midtown to help them continue their good work. To date, the Rotary Club of Katmandu Midtown has installed nearly 200 temporary shelter units and distributed thousands of tents and tarps along with food and medical supplies. Now that the immediate need for shelter has been addressed, an effort to rebuild (to “build back better”) schools is underway.  The Ministry of Education has reported that over 32,000 classrooms need to be reconstructed.  The Rotary Club of San Francisco Evening will travel to Nepal in spring of 2016 to join Kathmandu Mid-Town to build more functional schools including dedicated computer rooms and accessible toilets.

We hope to see you there!
