Bring Smiles to Children Around the World. This year marks the 25th anniversary of Rotaplast International - let's help make their annual Bocce Ball Tournament a success! Every year, Rotary clubs from around the Bay Area bring together teams of 4-6 people for a fun day of bocce ball, BBQ, beer and wine. This year we have an additional opportunity to volunteer with the event, making it our July SERVICE PROJECT as well! Admission is $40; children under 18 can also participate at $15 per head. Please RSVP if you can attend - we need an idea of how many teams will represent the club. Rotaplast International, Inc. is committed to helping children and families worldwide by eliminating the burden of cleft lip and/or palate, burn scarring, and other deformities. Working with local professionals, Rotarians, and other organizations, Rotaplast sends multidisciplinary medical teams to provide free reconstructive surgery, ancillary treatment, and training for the comprehensive care of these children. Rotaplast supports education and research towards prevention of cleft lip and/or palate. Their aim is to help local professionals build sustainable models for the care of these children, improving their lives and those of their families. |

PRLS was developed by Rotarians for Rotarians, offering practical training that will benefit you on both a personal and professional level. The Basic PRLS Program is a six-hour workshop consisting of five topics:
Together, these topics introduce the desired skills a leader should have to effectively plan, organize, manage, promote, present orally, and lead in any setting. Kent has been a Rotarian for over a decade. He served as president of the Rotary Club of Ventura South in Southern California and is now the immediate past president of the Rotary Club of Mill Valley. Kent’s presentation today entitled “Engineering Influence” explores the origins of fake news, how it is created, who creates it, and how to spot bogus online content. Program Speaker: Jon Kaufman of H2OpenDoors H2OpenDoors was created in 2012 as a project of the Peninsula Sunrise Rotary Club, in our home District 5150. Their mission is to raise funds to purchase SunSpring water purification units and place them in villages in third world countries where they can make the best impact upon health and sustainability. Now, both Rotary clubs in Redwood City are dedicating their international efforts to the H2OpenDoors project. Master PRLS is a sequenced program of five courses, each requiring attendance of PRLS and specified previous courses as prerequisites. The 2017-18 President of Rotary International, Ian Riseley, has asked Rotary clubs to show their commitment to addressing climate change by planting a tree for every member. Join all the San Francisco clubs as we plant up to 500 trees in one day. Beginning at 8:30 AM, we’ll meet at Balboa High School with SF Department of Public Works Urban Forestry. They will provide the trees and equipment; Rotary provides the manpower and enthusiasm. Light lunch will be provided for all participants. Be sure to wear light clothing, closed toe shoes and bring gloves. Please wear a Rotary shirt if you have one! If not ask the members at the event how to get a new shirt. For more details about the parade visit https:// Where: Float #75 on North Point Street (between Stockton and Embarcadero), San Francisco, CA 94133 (attached is a map to the location) Before going, please remember to:
1) Carpool or take public transportation as parking will be limited. For those that wish to drive, attached is a list of parking garages available around the area.
2) Wear your red and white Rotary baseball shirt if you already have it. For those who do not, we will be distributing the shirt prior to the start of the parade. Also, we will be walking in the parade so don't forget to wear comfortable shoes.
3) Please eat a big hearty breakfast before going to get all the energy you need! Tacos, Larabars, ice cream, water and more will be provided at the parade. Yum!
4) Temperature will be awesome! 71 is the high so dress appropriately. Please don't bring a stuff that you cannot put in your pockets. We will have limited storage on the truck. (no cable car this year).

Program Speaker: Matt Sheehy, Chi Running Coach As an avid adventure racer with chronic knee pain, Matt stumbled upon a Chi Running book. Changing a few parts of his running transformed chronic pain into a thing of the past, inspiring him to become a Chi Running instructor himself. Program Speaker: Misha Frankly – Dickens Christmas Fair The Great Dickens Christmas Fair is a one-of-a-kind holiday adventure into Victorian London - an elaborate party with hundreds of costumed players performing and interacting with patrons in over 120,000 square feet of theatrically-lit music halls, pubs, dance floors, and Christmas shops. It's a twilight evening in Charles Dickens' London Town - a city of winding lanes filled with colorful characters from both literature and history. The Dickens Christmas Fair is a treasured Bay Area tradition since 1970 and a splendid way to celebrate the holidays. Our own President-Elect Suzanne Taylor has been involved with the Dickens Fair for years! Come hear more about its history and attractions at this special meeting (also to be led by Suzanne!)
